Mobile Testing Units
Mobile Testing Units (MTUs) are now available to Illinois motorists in the Chicago area. MTUs are specially equipped emissions testing vans that can be deployed to select locations to provide vehicle emissions testing for the convenience of motorists. We currently have two MTUs that will be deployed to multiple locations. Click on the link below to view the MTU calendar. The calendar provides the MTU testing schedule (dates/times) and testing locations with maps and directions. The MTU’s function like a small, one-lane station, providing test services from a specially equipped van. You can get all emissions test services at MTUs with the exception of damage claim inspections (which must be done at a centralized station).
You will be asked to take a short survey at the end of the test to provide us feedback on your MTU testing experience.
